It is the story of a deep transformation, a personal quest, and a journey towards authenticity that began more than 15 years ago. It was a time when my dreams collided brutally with a monotonous reality. I was trapped in a tediously predictable life, where each day in the office suffocated me, and the creative spark that once illuminated my spirit slowly faded, consumed by routine.

Each negotiation felt like a battle. Each client eroded my soul. I found myself caught in an endless cycle of frustration and business disillusionment.

But then, one day, in the midst of what seemed like just another morning, a small spark ignited change. What began as a simple call to a supplier in Japan, to resolve a delay in a shipment, turned out to be the catalyst for my awakening. My frustration must have been palpable on the other end of the line because they sensed something deeper than mere dissatisfaction with work—they understood my discontent with life itself.

They invited me to Japan, to understand their philosophy, to see their facilities. What seemed like a routine visit transformed into something much deeper. On a gray October day, I made the decision to accept their invitation and left without a return ticket. I needed to escape, to breathe. What I didn't know at the time was that I was about to embark on an adventure that would change my life forever.

Japan didn’t welcome me as a client but as an initiate. In Kyoto, I was immersed in their world of alchemy and tradition. I discovered that a formula is not just a mix of ingredients. It is an act of love, patience, prudence, and respect for nature. They taught me that true art is not in the final product but in every step of the process. The artisans of Okinawa harvested seaweed with a reverence I had never imagined. It wasn't just a technique; it was a spiritual connection to the earth and water. I then understood that authentic art is born from that connection.

It was during these moments of revelation that KUBO began to take shape in my mind. I realized that we could no longer sell mere ingredients without a soul. I needed to create something that encapsulated everything I had learned. Something that told a story, honored tradition, and embraced craftsmanship. Each KUBO product had to be more than just a container: it had to be a bridge between East and West, between modernity and tradition, between commerce and spirituality.

KUBO is a living celebration of the real. Every product tells a story, a story of passion, of authenticity, of a love for craftsmanship and imperfection. What once was a crisis of identity became my greatest opportunity. KUBO is the reflection of a personal journey, a search, the journey that began in Kyoto and led me to discover a deeper purpose.

Sleeping in a modest room in Okubo, far from the luxuries and distractions of Tokyo, connected me to the essentials. I spent nearly a year immersed in a world of formulas, artisans, and a culture deeply rooted in nature. That long stay taught me to see the world from a new perspective, where the superficial fades, and what is genuine prevails.

The Okubo neighborhood, to which our brand pays homage, was a place where I found myself, where I reconnected with my essence. It is the fusion of a gray past and the future I was creating.

KUBO is not just my story; it is the story of all those who believe that true value lies in what is made with love. Because for us, love is what gives life to everything we do, and a life without passion is an incomplete life.
